The Wonder of Your Name…Story

Singers sing…it’s that simple.

I sing and hum while cleaning the kitchen, giving Miss Dallas a bath, driving my car, reading a novel, getting my nails manicured, or soaking in the tub—you get the idea. Most of the time I’m oblivious to it; it’s just part of who I am.

Every morning while putting on my face I love to listen to all kinds of music. Dony set me up with a little CD player and speakers by my vanity. Old school, I know, but I still enjoy reading those credits on the covers.

One morning as I was reaching to find a particular project to play, I heard in my heart, “I’d really just like to hear you worship this morning Honey.” Of course, when Father makes a request I pay attention. So while slathering on moisturizer and concealer, I began singing beloved, old songs focusing on the name of Jesus. “There’s Something About That Name, Jesus Name Above All Names, Say The Name of Jesus, Jesus Is The Sweetest Name I Know…”

Suddenly I found myself caught up in worship while the tears were streaming down my face. It was as if a cloud of tangible glory was flooding the room. It was so sacred, so holy. Imagine it—The King of Glory’s presence in a bathroom amongst the makeup and hair curlers.

I heard myself singing,
“Oh the wonder of Your name
Oh the wonder of Your name
All of earth and heaven sing
Oh the wonder of Your name!”

The words just kept coming and the preciousness of His love embraced me like the softest patchwork quilt…it was heavenly.
I’m not sure exactly how long I was caught up in worship but as it slowly dissipated the fragrance of His essence lingered.

Later I made my way to our studio where Dony was working. My pitiful tear-stained face was somehow still glowing with the residue of glory. “What happened to you Honey?” he asked. “Are you all right?”

I began sharing my story of the divine encounter I had just experienced and he began to weep with me. He sat down at his piano and whispered, “Sing your song Honey.” In just a few moments we were swept into His presence and the song was complete…
