RAMBO MCGUIRE BIOGRAPHY

Rambo McGuire was an acclaimed family group with a long legacy in Christian music. The group began in the 1980s as a duo with GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning artists and songwriters Dony McGuire and Reba Rambo then as a trio when their daughter Destiny Rambo McGuire joined them. Dony and Reba’s son Israel Anthem McGuire also added to the family mix by playing percussion.

Their unique style of singing and songwriting allowed Rambo McGuire the ability to perform a diversity of musical genres—from contemporary Christian, rhythm and blues, praise and worship to country, folk, bluegrass and southern Gospel—appealing to a wide variety of audiences. They performed all over the world from storefront churches to the largest concert stages, before presidents and kings, battle-worn military troops, maximum security prisons, college campuses, and billions of viewers of Christian and mainstream television including the GRAMMY Awards.

Reba & Dony divorced in 2019, but their legacy continues separately and with their daughter and her husband, Joel & Destiny Khouri.

Our LATEST PROJECTS

The two latest Rambo McGuire projects commemorate the music of The Rambos. There are 14 new recordings of The Rambos’s most beloved songs penned by Dottie and Reba in their newest StowTown Records release, Rambo Classics . “This is a must for every serious Rambo and southern Gospel collector,” says Reba. In 2012 Rambo McGuire won a Dove Award for Grassroots Rambos celebrating the early mountain style of The Rambos. Both of these recordings feature three generations of family talent including Destiny and Israel, original members Reba & Dony, and the late Buck Rambo.

In 2017, Rambo McGuire released a new StowTown Records digital single “Trouble Has A Way” which can be found in most online digital outlets. Many of their previously most requested contemporary Christian songs are still available on The Noteworthy Collection and Reba’s latest solo project The Lady’s Treasury. DONY MCGUIRE AND REBA RAMBO

Both Dony and Reba come from a rich musical family heritage. At the age of 13, Reba Rambo began traveling with her parents, Buck and Dottie Rambo, in the legendary southern Gospel music group, The Rambos. As a young boy, Dony McGuire toured with his four brothers and many popular Gospel singing groups before joining The Downings. They both launched solo careers in the late ‘70s becoming trendsetters in contemporary Christian music before joining forces as Rambo McGuire.

Dony and Reba have composed and written hundreds of songs including several new collaborations with Bill and Gloria Gaither as well as other well known writers across all genres of music. They are not only acclaimed songwriters but have written articles for Gaither’s Homecoming Magazine and Reba was featured in her own column “There Has To Be A Song.” In addition, she is in the process of completing her second book, a collection of stories behind the songs of Dottie Rambo.

They taught creative writing workshops giving young and seasoned writers practical instruction in the craft of writing songs, stories, sermons, and speeches. “I wish someone had taught me these principles and secrets when I was young because it would have shaved years off my creative learning process,” says Reba.

Reba continues to write and teach creative writing. She has collaborated her daughter Destiny in recording a new project which will be released as Rambo Women in the near future.

DESTINY RAMBO MCGUIRE AND ISRAEL ANTHEM MCGUIRE

The next generation of Rambo McGuire brought its own talent and versatility to the family group. Dony and Reba's children, Destiny and Israel, traveled for years with their parents performing and developing their unique gifts. Destiny is sought after as a singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, and choreographer. Israel is a GRAMMY-nominated video director, singer, songwriter, and musician as well. Destiny's heartfelt vocals and Israel's dynamic percussion skills were an integral part of the soul-stirring music of Rambo McGuire.
