REBA RAMBO-MCGUIRE BIOGRAPHY
Reba Rambo-McGuire is a GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning singer, songwriter, author, minister and teacher. She’s the walking definition of a pioneering woman.
At the age of 13, Reba began traveling with her parents, Buck and Dottie Rambo, in the legendary southern Gospel group, The Rambos. Known for their innovative style of inverted, three-part harmony, The Rambos were one of the most successful Gospel trios of the 20th century.
As a teenager, Reba began a successful solo career in contemporary Christian music, garnering Dove Awards and GRAMMY nominations in a trailblazing genre that merged Christian lyrics with modern styles of music. She won her first Dove Award for Pop/Contemporary Album Of The Year with her project Lady.
One of the major highlights of her career came when Reba and her husband Dony McGuire joined forces as Rambo McGuire and collaborated in writing a concept album, The Lord’s Prayer. The album won them a GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Gospel Album Of The Year as well as a Dove Award for Praise And Worship Album Of The Year.
In 2001, Reba was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall Of Fame along with her parents as members of The Rambos and today Reba carries on her family’s rich musical heritage through her family group Rambo McGuire. They recently released a Dove Award-winning recording titled Grassroots Rambos, celebrating the timeless songs of her mother, Dottie. They are joined on this album by their children, Destiny and Israel, and Reba's father, Buck.
Reba continues to compose and write songs with her husband Dony, including several new collaborations with Bill and Gloria Gaither as well as other well known writers across all genres of music. She has written her own column “There Has To Be A Song” for Gaither’s Homecoming Magazine.
Rambo-McGuire is not only an acclaimed writer of songs and articles but of books too. Her autobiography, Follow The Yellow Brick Road, depicts the dramatic account of God’s healing and restoring power in her life. She is in the process of completing her second book, a collection of stories behind the songs of Dottie Rambo.
Reba and Dony devote a portion of their schedule to teaching creative writing workshops. In these dynamic classes, young and seasoned writers receive practical instruction in the craft of writing songs, stories, sermons, and speeches.
They also teach and minister through their online church, The River. They broadcast the Good News of God's unconditional love to the world weekly through Facebook Live on Reba's page at www.facebook.com/RebaRamboMcGuire on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM Central. Videos are also archived and can be viewed anytime on Reba's Facebook page.
In November of 2011, Reba proudly accepted a star on Music City’s Walk Of Fame in honor of her mother, Dottie Rambo.
Reba and Dony are proud parents to four children and one grandson: Dionne and her husband Scott Dismuke, Destiny Rambo McGuire, Israel Anthem McGuire, and grandson Dyson Dismuke.
